COLIN WOOLF

Over the Edge

About the artist

The remote, uninhabited areas of Britain – mountains, moorland and wild coastline – act as a magnet for wildlife artist Colin Woolf, who is inspired largely by the wildlife that lives in this beautiful but often bleak environment.
Working in pure watercolour, Colin has an eye for detail and an in-depth knowledge of all his subjects. His ability with watercolour, bringing a depth, richness and vibrancy to this medium, has helped him to establish a reputation as one of the UK's leading wildlife artists.
Born in 1956, Colin spent his childhood in the New Forest, developing a lifelong passion for natural history and discovering a strong artistic talent. After graduating from Nottingham University with a degree in animal science, he worked first in research and then graphic design before becoming a professional wildlife artist in 1985. Until recently he was based in Snowdonia, North Wales, but he has now achieved his dream of moving to Scotland. Among Colin's most familiar subjects are birds of prey, game birds and wildfowl, but he loves to draw and paint a wide range of wildlife, including otters, deer, hares and a huge variety of birdlife.
