About the artist by the artist
'I am now of the conviction that there is no such thing as a talented elite. Robert Louis Stevenson said of himself that his talent was for hard work. For me too, any facility with line and paint I have developed and go on developing, and any acclaim I have enjoyed, is as a result of grit and determination and a willingness to risk my significance and bear the pain of rejection, again and again and again. It is trite but absolutely true, that any accomplishment is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. I remind anyone of this when they tell me they wish they had my talent. I ask them if they are willing to make the sacrifices required to maximise their potential, whatever it might be.'
