Pub for the match, walk home, late dinner. Same every year for 15+ years. The tradition is more important than the result by now.
Cup final day for me is fish supper, the match on, and a £2 first-goalscorer punt on Sky Bet. Lose the lot 90% of the time but the ritual matters more than the result.
Cup final day for me sits alongside the other Scottish calendar fixtures I bother with — Burns Night supper at the end of January, Hogmanay bells at the New Year, and the Six Nations Calcutta Cup weekend in March. Out of those, only the Grand National in April genuinely tempts me into a flutter — Cup Final betting I leave to the bookies who want it.
